Australian Minister for Tourism Martin Ferguson and Victorian Tourism & Major Events Minister Tim Holding have announced the funding as part of the Australian Government's $2 million support package for the business events sector in Australia. Victoria has received $150,000 from the government, which it is matching through Tourism Victoria, the Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau and the state tourism industry.

Meeting Mart 2009

Meeting Mart 2009 was held on Monday the 19th October, at a new venue, Palladium at Crown. BEV once again exhibited as a representation of regional Victoria, with twenty five booths, including the Regional Victoria Showcase, with Geelong, Echuca Moama and Shepparton showcasing their local produce and wines.

Running from 9.30am to 6pm, visitors to the Business Events Victoria stands, met with all exhibitors and were able to look at the quality venues and products on offer. Contacts were made, business cards swapped, so we look forward to new business that will come through to Regional Victoria following the show.

RVCG launch new brand - Business Events Victoria

Regional Victoria Conference Group made the decision to re-brand to Business Events Victoria at the Business Events Industry's premier annual exhibition - AIME 09 tradeshow.

The decision was made by the board to fall in-line with the national peak body Business Events Australia and to move with industry trends.

Business Events Victoria Chairman, Mark Francis said this is an exciting time for the industry.

"With the ever changing face of the business events industry, it is important to move with the times, so we can best represent our members and promote regional Victoria to the meetings, incentive, conference and exhibition (MICE) sector" said Mr Francis.

"The RVCG has been operating since 1996 and the re-branding to Business Events Victoria is the key for future growth of business events into regional Victoria."

Business Events Victoria is a growing, membership-based group that operates as a collective group for conference venues, accommodation providers, tour operators, local councils, regional tourism organisations and service providers who have identified the need for a coordinated and cooperative industry approach to the marketing and promotion of business events for regional Victoria.

Business Events Victoria's aim is to grow regional Victoria's share of the meetings, conference and events market by working collaboratively to demonstrate the quality and diversity of conference venues, services and settings in regional Victoria.

Bush Fire Crisis

Business Evnets Victoria would like to express their condolences to everyone affected by the Victorian bush fires that ravaged our state over the past week.

RVCG Chairman, Mark Francis said that this is a devastating time in the states history.

"Two of our valued members, The Cumberland & Marylands Country House, located in Marysville, have lost everything and to them we send our deepest sympathies and offer our full support" said Mr Francis.

To all our members, Business Events Victoria is here to support you when and if you need us. In time we'll be able to make plans for the future and for re-building and strengthening our regional industry, however we understand that there are more important priorities right now.
